"Transformers 5" may have found its villain in the planet-sized transformer Unicron. It was reported by christianpost.com that "Transformers 5" will come out in 2017 and the film will have 2 storylines which will include an epic battle between Optimus Prime and Unicron.
With Michael Bay at the director's seat once again, fans can expect epic explosions and gigantic battle scenes. With the stated rumor, people have speculated that the film will be mostly set in space.
Despite the film projected to be set in space, according to ign.com, "Transformers" head writer Akiva Goldsman recently said that the franchise will continue having a strong human element in the future films.
"Do I think Transformers can live without humans? Sure," Goldsman said. "Do I think humans can live without Transformers? Sure. In Transformers movies? Sure!"
"But, fundamentally, there seems to be something really great about the interaction between the two species," Goldsman clarified. "I think that, in the main, I would suggest that that would be something you wouldn't want to squander. Although that doesn't mean that you couldn't do all sorts of things for a little while."
He then shared how the future films will be under one universe. "Our hope is that they are all interconnected and of course, standalone, right?" the writer said. "I think architecturally, the best -- I think I believe this -- the best serialized storytelling has integrity from start to finish of the episode, whether it be TV or a movie or comic book or novel series or short story series."
"You want to be able to satisfy both appetites -- which I think is very different from procedural or episodic. You want to feed the instinct for the short-term gratification and the long-term gratification. So we're trying to do both," Goldsman concluded.
As seen on comicbook.com, Stephen J. Davis, President of Hasbro Studios and Entertainment and Licensing for Hasbro confirmed that the "Transformers" film franchise has much more in store with 4 sequels to come.
