Some NBA trade rumors make too much sense not to happen, as this one involving Kevin Martin and the Dallas Mavericks.

Kevin Martin's name has been on the trading block since the Minnesota Timberwolves relegated him to the bench in favor of developing players like Zach Lavine.

He has the combination of being desirable because he has a very useful skill (shooting) that he is adept at, but his role would diminish as better, younger players come along.

Right now, a playoff team like the Dallas Mavericks, who were unheralded at the start of the season and is actually overachieving, could use him, according to ESPN.

"If Dallas believes Johnson is likely to sign with a championship contender, swapping Felton and a player making the veteran's minimum for Martin would be another way to get a true wing reserve," Kevin Pelton of ESPN NBA Insider wrote.

They refer to the Dallas Mavericks targeting Joe Johnson as a possible shooting guard, but the Brooklyn Nets may not want to trade their big expiring contract for players signed beyond the season.

In a discussion thread at Mavs Moneyball, the trade to acquire Martin was raised, and he would be swapped for Devin Harris and Raymond Felton (which meant they would go all in with Deron Williams at the point).

From user 'lemonbridage' he is wary of giving up two veteran point guards.

"We'd only need a minimum throw-in like Powell with Felton to get Martin, salary-wise," his comment read. "That would also give us some time to gauge where we are re: Matthews' recovery and having given us an opportunity to see Jenkins and Anderson's capacity to fill in."
