Smartphone lovers are waiting for the release of Google's one-of-a-kind flagship, Project Ara

There were some initial hiccups in the designing and testing phase. However, it looks like those days are far behind as the testing phase is said to be going smoothly.

Project Ara smartphone is taking the form of a full-HD tablet. As per the official website of Project Ara, this device is exclusively designed for 6 billion people. The new GFXBench revelation is done and this smartphone will have a 13.8-inch display as reported by Phone Arena.

Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 SoC processor is used in Project Ara which will help the user to customize the phone according to their needs. Switching out a processor or camera component as easily as a microSD card is something Project Ara wants the smartphone users to experience.

As per the official release on the Project Ara website, Project Ara is a development effort and it is not an official Google product.'' Hence, Google is in no hurry to launch Project Ara. Ara Knaian who is the lead in the project is hoping that sometime in May 2016 they should be able to launch the first developed model.

Project Ara will not be a Nexus phone as it will use the Android operating system. The team is working towards 3D print electronics and they are yet to give more updates on this feature. A video on this upcoming innovation was uploaded on YouTube.

Meanwhile, Digital trends mentioned that Project Ara did not fail the drop test. Google also explained that Project Ara's implementation of electro-permanent magnets will not be used in the final product.

International Business Times reported that ''powered by a Snapdragon 810 chipset, working in tandem with an octa-core processor and backed by 3 GB of RAM,'' Project Ara might live up to the dreams of millions.

The Ara team posted an update on Twitter and that includes having an initial storage of 10 GB and there will be many features like accelerometer, barometer, compass, GPS, Bluetooth, camera, gyroscope, light sensor, NFC, pedometer and a few more.
