Unlike tech giants Apple and Samsung, the Chinese company OnePlus does not follow a pattern in releasing its new devices; a new report, accordingly, suggest that OnePlus 3 will be released in summer of 2016.

As Expert Reviews noted in its report, OnePlus One was released in April 2014 while OnePlus 2 was released after over a year in July 2014. And while it may be hard to predict when the highly-anticipated OnePlus 3 will be available in the market but according to Expert Reviews, it's safe to presume that OnePlus takes at least a year to produce another flagship device. Hence, as the report suggest, it is estimated that OnePlus 3 will be out in summer of 2016.

The report added that it is certain that OnePlus 3 will be unveiled this year, although according to Expert Reviews, OnePlus 3 may stick to the same invite-only restriction when release as its predecessors did.

As to its specifications, OnePlus 3 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, a processor equivalent to the rank of OnePlus 2's octa-core 1.8GHz Snapdragon 810 chipset. Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 is also the same chip slated for upcoming smartphones like Samsung's Galaxy S7, the HTC One M10 and LG G5. The new processor, however, is expected to resolve heating issues, which is one of the most common complaints of OnePlus 2 users.

Although it is rumored that OnePlus 3 will have the same 3300mAh battery storage as OnePlus 2, fans are hoping for a larger battery storage. It is also expected that the new flagship phone will have microSD support, which although was not present in OnePlus One and OnePlus 2, was introduced in OnePlus X.

International Business Times has previously reported that OnePlus 3 may also be bringing back the Near Field Communication, a feature that was removed in OnePlus 2. NFC, accordingly, will be incorporated with Android Pay.
