The Christmas special was connected after all. "Sherlock" season 4 release date is coming and it seems Moriarty will be back.
Previous reports have pointed out that James "Jim" Moriarty (Andrew Scott) is coming back to season 4 and it's no ordinary haunting for Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch). While the latest Christmas special paved the way for the idea that death isn't always absolute, it seems Moriarty will again face Sherlock as season 4 release date arrives.
While initially, release date was an issue and "Sherlock" fans were quite confused as to when season 4 would return, it seems January 2017 could be the date for the next adventure. According to DenOfGeek, "Sherlock" season 4 release date could be sometime in January 2017. "Sherlock" showrunner Steven Moffat hinted the possible release date, if filming goes smoothly.
Walesonline has reported that in order to meet the 2017 release date, "Sherlock" has began filming in South Wales. "In a major boost to the creative industries sector in Wales the next series of popular BBC drama 'Sherlock' will be filmed in South Wales," said the report.
"Previous series have been filmed in studios and on location in South Wales," said the report. "The drama, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Dr Watson, is expected to be filmed at Pinewood Studio Wales on the outskirts of Cardiff at Wentloog. Filming on the fourth series will start in the spring and be aired next year. The studio complex, which Pinewood rents from the Welsh Government, has 70,000 sq ft of shooting space, including two 20,000 sq st stages." it added.
Meanwhile, season 4 plot has yet to be confirmed but many reports have pointed out that as Moriarty's return as the anti-thesis of Sherlock Holmes is inevitable, an additional player to the team could be possible. Tom Hiddleston is said to be arriving in "Sherlock" season 4 as the third Holmes brother, who will help Sherlock topple the mighty Moriarty come the show's 2017 release date.
