Rachel McAdams' role in the upcoming superhero film "Doctor Strange" is one of its big casting secrets. Mads Mikkelsen has been confirmed as a villain but nothing much is revealed either.
For McAdams, the biggest clue about her role is the simple, yet vivid description of the character by producer Kevin Feige on Entertainment Weekly,
"Rachel McAdams plays a fellow surgeon that has a history with Strange and is his sort of lynchpin to his old life, once he steps into the role of a sorcerer...She is someone he connects with at the beginning, and reconnects with, and helps anchor his humanity."
If McAdams would be someone the Doctor could relate to as an anchor for his past, there's one character that could fit the description: Linda Carter.
On a Wikia page dedicated for Marvel, Linda had worked with the Sorcerer Supreme as part of the "Night Nurse." She may not be a superhero, but she's part of the group that helps superheroes cope with their physical ailments.
Linda Carter may not be in everyone's thought when it comes to MCU but Marvel has big plans for the character. According to Screen Rant, "'it's entirely possible Carter will appear alongside Benedict Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme in the forthcoming film - and we may already know who will play her. Earlier this month it was rumored that Marvel had approached Rachel McAdams to play the female lead in 'Doctor Strange.'"
Screen Rant's report also indicates that Carter could have been part of the current Daredevil series if they were allowed. However, Marvel is planning to get her to the big screen instead of Netflix.
The beauty of casting Linda Carter is the fact that she could be a tie-in to the Netflix series. Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple in Daredevil is also known as "Night Nurse" for the blind superhero. Claire and Linda could eventually come in contact with each other which opens the gates of Netflix heroes for the big screen.
