Because of the upsurge of demand for the release of "Resident Evil 2," Capcom granted the request of their fans by confirming that a sequel to the hit thriller game is already in the works.

But there were confusions that surfaced whether the sequel would be a remastered game only or a remake of the story.

In his Twitter account, Capcom UK's marketing director, Stuart Turner announced and confirmed that the next "Resident Evil" game will be a remake and not a remastered version, iSchoolGuide reported.

"Seems to be a few people picking up a mistranslation in our own investor report. RE2 will be a full from the ground up remake NOT a remaster," Turner revealed in his tweet.

Stuart further explained that since fans are very eager to experience the next installment, Capcom worked through its way to start building the sequel.

"It's been great to see so many positive comments from fans that have pushed the project to get approved," he said. "The team here at Capcom Japan really appreciates fans' passion and support and will do our best to bring fans what they really want."

It was in 1998 when "Resident Evil 2" anticipated its first release where the setting was in Racoon City. At that time, humans are turned into zombies because of the T-virus which spread throughout the city and it became a biological weapon of the Umbrella Corporation. In this story, Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield were the protagonists who will fight against a mutated human who developed something more than the T-Virus, the G-Virus.

Though there had been no confirmation as to whether when it will be released, "Resident Evil 2" remake project will be produced by Yoshiaki Hirabayashi. Fans could only be hopeful that at the earliest, this remake project will be released this year.
