The recent rumors about Sylvester Stallone not reprising his role as Barney Ross for "Expendables 4" is due to his win as Best Supporting Actor in the Golden Globes and his nomination in the Academy for his Rocky Balboa role in "Creed."

According to reports, following his successful stint on "Creed," Sylvester Stallone is now keener on pursuing a "Creed" sequel and is ready to drop his role as Barney Ross with the upcoming "Expendables 4."

Even Stallone's close friend, the American actor and former American football player Terry Crews, also thinks the veteran action star could be gunning for "Creed" instead of an "Expandables" sequel.

"I'm just thinking he's got options now," Terry Crews said. "He should think about what his next move is going to be, what he's going to do. 'Creed' was amazing. It showed his depth and he's a lot deeper than people always give him credit for."

But as it turned out, Stallone failed to nab the Actor in a Supporting Role award, where the award was given to Mark Rylance for his role in "Bridge of Spies." Does this mean that Sylvester Stallone is finally back in the game for "Expendables 4?"

In its report, Master Herald said that "Expendables 4" would not be complete if Sylvester Stallone's Barney Ross is not in it. The report highlighted that even Stallone, himself, is "aware that if his character is not in the movie, 'The Expandables' as a band of mercenaries shall no longer be complete."

The report added that Jason Statham who plays Lee Christmas is already excited to start filming for "Expendables 4" and being one of the group's leaders, he will be joined by "James Bond" star Pierce Brosnan. Together, they will be taking on the new villains in the persons of Hulk Hogan and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
