''The Hunger Games'' film series is produced by Nina Jacobson and Jon Kilik. It is the 15th highest-grossing film franchise and the makers are looking at making the fifth instalment of the same.

Comingsoon.net had reported way back in Dec. 2015 that after ''The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2'' was released on Nov. 20, 2015 in the US, what will the makers do? Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer had expressed his desire to come up with something more. He mentioned that they were "actively looking at some development and thinking about prequel and sequel possibilities" for the ''Hunger Games'' franchise.

In this franchise, the first film ''The Hunger Games'' was released on Mar. 23, 2012 in the US and scooped up $694.4 million in the box office. Boxofficemojo reported about the collections. As reported by deadline, the film starred Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci, and Donald Sutherland.

The second instalment ''The Hunger Games: Catching Fire'' was released on Nov. 22, 2013 in the US and was released in Finland, Brazil, Sweden, UK and Norway too. The cast included Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz and a supporting cast too was included. It created a few records in the box office and collected $865 million worldwide.

The third instalment ''The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1'' was released in the US on Nov. 21, 2014 and the main cast remained constant. $755.4 million was the box office collection for this one.

''The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2'' which is the fourth instalment of this movie series was released on Nov. 20, 2015 in the US. This movie made $653 million in the box office and USA today recently reported about some behind-the scenes stories regarding this film. This movie will be out on digital platforms on Mar. 8, 2016 and on DVD on Mar. 22.

In an interview Lawrence told about the sets of the movie. "A week later, we had created basically a fake demolition site and so the whole neighborhood went crazy thinking that they were tearing the building down" clarified the protagonist Katniss Everdeen (the role which was played by Jennifer Lawrence).

Lionsgate Vice Chairman Michael Burns while talking about this franchise stated "will live on and on." They are thinking about making prequels now. "If we went backwards there obviously would be arenas," he added. Since the last two films did not contain arenas, many fans wanted to see the same.

The guardian talked about how important J.Law is to this franchise and the fans cannot think about the prequels without her. So is she up for another block buster movie for this franchise? Watch this space for more updates.
