Ontario is a large east-central province of Canada that boasts some of the finest architecture and modern cities in the country. Home to the capital city, Ontario is booming with work opportunities and real estate choices across its 9 major cities.

When moving to Ontario province, it can be a challenge to decide which city is right for you. Alternatively, if your work has already relocated you to one of these cities, you may not know what to expect when you arrive.

Below are 4 of the most popular cities in the province of Ontario. Thinking about buying a new home and relocating? Then take a look at the information below to get a sense of what it's like in each city.

Toronto

Crowned as the capital of Ontario, Toronto stands as the most populated city in the country. Popular for its International business and finance center, Toronto is a great choice for someone who enjoys the hustle and bustle of the business world.

It's also well known for its inclusive attitude, and this attracts an array of arts and culture to the city. Nightlife full of music and theatre is not to be missed when residing in Toronto, and a variety of museums, galleries, and public events will fill up your daytime. You will never be bored in such an open and diverse city.

Each year over 40 million tourists visit Toronto's National parks, sports games, and annual festivals. Imagine having all of these amazing activities right on your doorstep.

Ottawa

Not only is Ottawa Ontario's second-largest city, but the country's beloved capital. Ottawa has stunning Neo-Gothic architecture that oozes history and culture. Picturesque rivers and canals intersperse the streets that are dotted with an enchanting mix of modern and old.

Ottawa has a lengthy list of must-sees that make up the city's historical atmosphere, including art galleries, museums, parliament buildings, and one of the most spectacular sights,  Notre-Dame Cathedral.

The best way to see Ottawa is by boat. Take a cruise down the Ottawa river or Rideau Canal for breathtaking panoramic views that are most definitely worth a few photos. Rideau Canal also freezes over into one of Canada's largest natural skating rinks during the winter months. Prepare for fun on the ice at the Winterlude festival!

Ottowa boasts some of the highest rankings for educational standards and achievements, if you plan to raise children here. With Research centers, cultural institutions, and countless prestigious schools, it's no wonder Ottowa has the highest employment rate and standard of living in the entire country.

The biggest issue with living in the capital is the cost of rent and real estate prices, although still moderately affordable, this is something you need to consider before putting down roots in Ottawa.

London

Southwest Ontario is home to the more quaint city of London. Although smaller in population than Toronto and Ottawa, London plays a significant role in healthcare and education, hosting several top-ranking universities and hospitals.

London is an excellent choice for those that wish to attend or work at a top university, or have teens that are passionate about their education. It's not just medical research that London is famous for, however. Information technology is also a major driver of economic activity in this city.

With all this study also comes the need for entertainment, and London doesn't disappoint. The city offers music events, exhibitions, and many arts festivals to ensure it's not all work and no play.

For those looking to create an empire, London is a mixing pot of old and new, giving you opportunities for all niches of business. It's a well-developed city with a stable housing market and slightly lower living costs than the larger cities. Because of this eclectic mix of historical and modern, the housing market is wide and varied, allowing you to find your perfect home when searching for London homes for sale.

Richmond Hill

Richmond Hill is a picturesque spot, only just making it to city population status. It is perfect for those that like a quieter life, often the preferred option for established families and the older generation.

Richmond Hill offers a town feel, but it is still conveniently large enough to host all that you need close by. This is a city focused on green space and generous housing in comparison to the high rise skylines you will see in other cities.

Richmond Hill properties have charm and character, offering large yards and ample parking. There isn't much nightlife in this city, or even a decent variety of tourist attractions. However, Richmond Hill is home to the country's largest telescope and has beautiful lakes for fishing and kayaking.

If the fast pace of city living or the lack of outdoor space puts you off relocating, then Richmond Hill is a great choice for you.

Location, Location, Location!

Deciding to move house is a hard decision, especially if you are choosing to move out of your current community and relocating in an entirely new province. You can spend hours researching, trying to find the best city for your lifestyle. Hopefully, this list of Ontario's favorite places to live will help with your decision, and you'll soon be happy in your new, Ontario home.
