The upcoming and much-awaited Underworld 5 Movie news has been rumored to be having a release date already, and that will be on 2016.
As previously reported, there are many rumors about the production and cast of the upcoming Underworld 5 movie, one of them is that of lead star Kate Beckinsale who was previously rumored to be leaving the cast. Recent reports, however, state that the actress is coming back for the 5th movie after all.
According to Cinema Blend: "Screen Rant reports Len Wiseman dropped details on the expansion of theUnderworld universe while he was at New York Comic Con promoting his hit television series Sleepy Hollow. Wiseman, who helmed Underworld and Underworld: Evolution and happens to be married to Kate Beckinsale, revealed that Underworldhas three branches of expansion in the works, a "soft reboot," another Beckinsale-fronted feature, and a television series. At this time, all three are in development. Wiseman declined to comment as to which might roll into production first."
It has been previously reported that the new Underworld 5 movie news will also have Theo James fans very happy.
According to Screenrant,
"THR reported Theo James (Divergent) will reprise his role as the vampire David for the upcoming fifth chapter of the franchise. In Underworld: Awakening, David became Selene's vampire ally as she united with her daughter and sought out the hybrid Michael Corvin (Scott Speedman)."
As previously reported, a new Underworld movie is reportedly in the works -- without Kate Beckinsale. According to sources, the film that promises a new cast is under development with Screen Gems. Cory Goodman, writer for 2011's Priest is penning the script for the fifth movie for the series.
The first Underworld came out in 2003 and has run three more movies: 2006's Underworld Evolution, 2009's prequel Underworld: Rise of The Lycans with 2009's Underworld: Awakening earning the most in the box offices, making $160 million worldwide. The franchise has grossed a total of $458.2 worldwide.

In the Underworld, Vampires are a secret clan of modern aristocratic sophisticates whose mortal enemies are the Lycans (werewolves), a shrewd gang of street thugs who prowl the city's underbelly. This new movie has the opportunity to go in a new direction assuming they're not just looking to find a replacement for Kate Beckinsale's Selene.
We can remember her back in 2012 saying ""I think it's probably unlikely that I'll do [another Underworld sequel] but they may do one without me." Movie Pilot made a list of ladies who's fit to play the main role in Underworld 5. Included are True Blood's Anna Paquin and The Hunger Games Jennifer Lawrence.
No word yet on what the plot might be, we're guessing that its main point could still circulate around Lycans and vampires (as the rest of the films). One of the choices includes developing the story of Eve, Selene's daughter that was introduced in Awakening. No confirmed involvement yet from Len Wiseman, director of the first four films.
