If you're one of those who believe that the green coffee bean extract is going to help you make you lose weight, then here's something for you: that guy who's been hawking it in Dr. Oz Show has just been compelled to pay a huge amount of money for fraud.

Dr. Mehmet Oz, who rose to fame for being Oprah Winfrey's go-to doctor, has been an infamous subject lately with regard to medical fraud, especially when it comes to what many consider as outrageous weight loss claims. Now one of his guests is also in the limelight for a similar reason. Not only that, he has to pay a whopping $9 million for deceiving the public about weight loss products with green coffee bean extract.

Lindsey Duncan first appeared in the syndicated health program Dr. Oz Show around 2012. According to the documents submitted to the Federal Trade Commission, which protects the interest of consumers, the show contacted the company of Duncan-who usually presented himself as a "doctor," "nutritionist," and "one of the leading experts in the world"-if he can be an expert on green coffee bean extract even if his credentials are suspicious and inadequate.

What followed basically led to one of the biggest weight loss scams with Duncan given freedom to edit the script for his episode and, when asked to recommend a supplement, immediately uploaded one on a website despite not selling anything related to it. The documents also stated that he manipulated search engines so searches about the supplement led to his website and that he used his Dr. Oz appearance to strike a deal with retailers like Walmart. He then earned millions.

For his penalty, FTC orders him to pay up $9 million, with $5 million due over the next two weeks. He and his team are also not allowed to make any weight loss claim on green coffee bean extracts without 2 controlled human trials.
