The Spongebob Squarepants Movie "Sponge Out of Water" surprisingly got a big success at the movie's opening, garnering around $52 Million dollars, beating "Jupiter Ascending" which has dropped to $18 Million.
The movie's synopsis, as quoted from the official site, is as follows, "SpongeBob Squarepants, the world's favorite sea dwelling invertebrate, comes ashore to our world for his most super-heroic adventure yet."
Initial reviews for the movie has been released by numerous media publication sites and critics. Movie Pilot's, Benjamin Marlatt had this to say, "'SpongeBob' offers no surprises. This doesn't have the heart that is often associated with Pixar and although the simple theme of teamwork is by no means bad for the kids, there's nothing heavy-handed about anything with this film. "Spongebob" is all about pushing the jokes out there one by one as fast as it can."
He further added, "It's dumb film, but a knowingly dumb film that doesn't try to sell its audience on anything more than what it is. Not all the jokes stick their landing, but a good portion do, and although this doesn't have the droll wit of "Paddington" or contain as many of the clever pop-culture references as last year's "The Lego Movie" had, there are enough jokes that earn the parents' laughs instead of the eye-rolling snickers that are often given at less-than-stellar animated fare."
While the review written above certainly looks negative, fans still would surely go to the cinemas to watch The Spongebob Squarepants Movie "Sponge out of Water," and enjoy it as much as they enjoyed watching the prequel.
The film is geared to be in the cinemas for two more weeks depending on the sales it gets throughout the days ahead.
