Peter Parker AND Miles Morales in the upcoming "Spider-Man" 2017 reboot? Does this mean there will be two web-slingers in high school?
Latest news have revealed that after casting Tom Holland as the next, much-younger web-slinger in the upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot scheduled in 2017, it seems like director Jon Watts isn't satisfied with just one superhero. A report by MoviePilot revealed the months-long rumor about another classic comic character who is also known for donning that blue and red spandex.
"Spider-Man" reboot director Watts shared that while the appearance of Miles Morales isn't finalized for the 2017 film, the doors for another good guy in the movie hasn't been closed yet. "I can't talk about that, because, you know, that will reveal too much," teased Watts. "We're still writing the story...we haven't finished all the way through the story yet, so who knows."
Prior to Tom Holland's casting as the next Peter Parker, rumors that Miles Morales would take the lead in the upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot already swirled online. This speculation could've vanished after Peter Parker's casting confirmation but it remained persistent among fans' discussion on what's different in the coming 2017 remake.
Early this year, "Spider-Man" reboot Kevin Feige shared details about focusing on Peter Parker and his life prior to becoming the famed superhero. "We want to play with Spider-Man in the high school years because frankly there've been five 'Spider-Man' films and the amazing thing about it is, even though there've been five 'Spider-Man' films, there are so many things from the comics that haven't been done yet," shared Feige with Collider.
While this statement confirms that Peter Parker and not Miles Morales will stand in the spotlight as "Spider-Man" reboot comes in 2017, the drawing board remains open for another character, not necessarily a villain to "Spider-Man" but a possible ally.
