"One Piece: Gold" will be the pirate action series' 2016 anime movie. It is slated for release on Jul. 23 next year in Japan.

"One Piece" manga creator Eiichiro Oda will be the film's executive producer with Hiraoki Miyamoto, who previously worked on the TV anime, directing it. Tsutomu Kuroiwa is writing the film's script.

"One Piece" manga still is the best-selling manga in Japan for 2015 according to data compiling company Oricon. The series has held on to the top rank for seven years in a row since 2009.
