Fans have been raring for Nina Dobrev to return to the "The Vampire Diaries" and even got good news from showrunners who have expressed their openness as well for the Bulgarian-Canadian actress' return. But viewers of the series got a big surprise recently when her character's body was reportedly burned.

According to a recap on the New York Daily News, season 6 episode 11 of the TV series showed Damon Salvatore, portrayed by Ian Somerhalder, dealing with hallucinations of his past. At one point, he was seen trying to get past Tyler Lockwood to get to Elena Gilbert's body. When he succeeded, he was then apparently seen burning Elena's body after once again seeing hallucinations of himself within the coffin.

But as told by Bustle, the burning might have been just a hallucination as well giving fans hope that Elena's body was still safe from harm. They also noted that Elena couldn't be harmed as Bonnie Bennet was still alright.

Debate whether Nina Dobrev was gone for good from the series or not surged once again after the latest "The Vampire Diaries" episode. But other fans remain hopeful of her return come the finale after its executive producer admitted in the news the possibility.

"If The CW called today and was like, 'By the way, Season 7 is the last season,' then I think we would scramble to make sure that she was in the finale," executive producer Caroline Dries told Collider last month.

While fans and viewers argued on the chances of Nina Dobrev's return on "The Vampire Diaries," news has it the actress was preoccupied with other things over the weekend.

As reported by Hollywood Life, Dobrev had Super Bowl 50 fever and was among the number of celebrities that watched the Denver Broncos defeat the Carolina Panthers during the game. She even shared on Instagram several pictures of her with Julianne Hough and other friends as they enjoyed the game.
