It seems "Narcos" fans will have to wait until August or possibly even more for season 2 of the popular Netflix show to get released.

According to iDigital Times, the expected August release date for "Narcos" season 2 may not be followed.

"Narcos is changing showrunners once again, putting season 2's August 2016 release date in jeopardy," the report read.

It is speculated that the second season of show may face some delays as the show is left without a showrunner.

It was Adam Fierro who took the helm after Chris Brancato, the original "Narcos" season 1 showrunner, left the show sometime earlier this year. However, with the news of Fierro stepping down from the series, it is expected that there might be a possible delay in the second season, reported Entertainment Weekly.

It is reported that Jose Padilha and Eric Newman will return as "Narcos" season 2 executive producers. The two will be working with a team of writers. Ii still remains unclear as to who will take up the showrunner's role.

It is to be noted that Executive producer Eric Newman had earlier shared in an interview with Slash Film that season 2 of the popular drug show will end in Pablo Escobar's death.

"He will die," Newman said. "The design of the show is we told 15 years of history in season one. At the point of Escobar's escape which is the summer of 1992, Escobar has 18 months to live. That's not something we can change."

"To stretch that out beyond another season would be disingenuous of us. That story was always designed to have an ending."

He also hinted about a third season saying that the show will continue to run even after Escobar's death.
