Sony Xperia Z5, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3+ are finally getting the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow update as confirmed by Sony Xperia UK on Twitter, announcing that the said devices will receive the update on March 7.

According to Lawyer Herald, Sony had already made an announcement back in October 2015 that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will be rolled out to its devices in the first quarter of 2016.

And although it had made a bluff over Twitter in the past publishing release dates that did not push through, Lawyer Herald noted that with March 7 being so specific, the said release date is highly probable. The report added that Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z3+ being the first set of devices being given updates for Sony gives more sense to the March 7 roll-out since these were the devices, along with Xperia Z3, that have been used for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow concept of Sony.

XperiaBlog.net also highlighted that the new firmware has already been certified by the PTRCB for the Xperia Z3+ with build number 32.1.A.0.434.

"Yes, this is the Android 6.0 Marshmallow release and compares to the current firmware version 28.0.A.8.272 (Android 5.0.2 Lollipop)," XperiaBlog.net confirmed.

It added, "Perhaps, yesterday's reported release date of 7 March is true after all. If this firmware is the official final release, then expect the same build number to appear on the Xperia Z5 series as well as the Xperia Z4 tablet."

The phrase "yesterday's reported release date of 7 March" refers to the tweet from Sony Mobile UK Twitter account that replied to a question from a user who asked about the roll-out of the update for Sony devices.

In its reply, Sony Mobile UK said (via Xperiablog.net): "It's set to roll out from March 7 for Xperia Z5 series, Z4 Tablet and Z3+. We will share confirmed timings when it's ready."
