Keira Knightley is expecting her first child with her husband, James Righton, and she shared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that certain things just cannot be planned ahead of time. She was joking with the talk show host, referring to the birth of her first-born as well as the painful labor process.

“There’s a whole birthing plan in place,” Knightley shared. “But, what is the plan – apart from to get it out? My plan is to get it out.” DeGeneres then offered to stay by the actress’s side during delivery.

“Back in the day, people would be in the field and have a child,” DeGeneres joked. “You can be on set – or I’ll find a field!”

“I’ll drop it out, keep working,” said “The Imitation Game” actress. “Pick the baby up – that’s my plan. That would be wonderful for television, but not so good for me.”

One more thing that is good for the pregnancy for the actress is her husband drinking her celebratory champagne for her. Knightley is among this year’s Oscar nominees, and since she is pregnant, her rocker husband will have to serve as her proxy when it comes to drinking.

“I’m eating for two and he’s drinking for two,” Knightly said, as reported by ET Online. “There’s a lot of free champagne. So, he thinks because I’m not drinking the free champagne he has to. So, all of it.”

Although it sounds like her husband is used to having a great time during awards shows, she admitted that she actually had to use the pregnancy card just to convince him to go with her.

Surprisingly, he ended up loving that he attended the special event. “He gets to wear lots of nice suits,” she shared. “He’s enjoying that.”

With regards to the gender of the baby, the soon-to-be-mother kept mum about it, but she did share that there are some things she has heard about having a boy that terrify her.

“Somebody said to me the other day,” she started. “The problem with boys is – sorry, this is horrible – but, when you’re changing their nappies, you can get the wee in your face. I’ve got a lot of people nodding at me, but I never knew that before. So, it was terrifying.”
