Vitamin C and retinol are potent anti-aging components but myths in the past say that they can't be mixed. However, scientific evidence shows that they are indeed a perfect match in battling premature signs of aging such as dark circles under the eyes and wrinkles.

Myths in the past say that market say that Retinol and Vitamin can't be mixed because according to them, Vitamin C only works in lower pH levels of environment and Retinol's simpler form, Retinoic Acid is actually an acid. However, evidences have shown that this is not true.

As a matter of fact, Vitamin C helps retinol to work better. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that battles free radicals which are the culprit in oxidative stress to retinol that might cause damage. It shields Retinol from oxidation as it enters deep into the dermal layers of the skin.

According to the Journal of Skin Pharmacology, one study yielded a result of their study when they applied retinol and Vitamin C on the skin surface. It showed that it reverses skin changes like pigmentation and wrinkles that come with aging.

Retinol is a Vitamin A derivative and research have revealed that combinations of Vitamin A, C and E causes stability and constancy in the formulation of each vitamin. Hence, efficacy is maximized.

Anti-aging products are taking the market by storm because of its demand. More and more people are recognizing the significance of taking care of the skin to prevent premature signs of aging like wrinkles and dark circles under the eyes. Both Vitamin C and retinol are effective in treating these separately. However, recent studies have said that when they are mixed together, the efficacy is maximized.
