After 30 years, "Lupin the Third" series 4 will finally premiere on channel RTI in Italy this May and will have an autumn release for Japan.

"Lupin Series 4 is DEFINITELY airing in May in Italy, Autumn in Japan. So says this official tweet about it," the series' official Twitter account posted.

The upcoming show was announced last October during the MIPCOM event in Cannes, France. It will be the first "Lupin" TV anime series in a long time since its third season, which aired between 1984 and 1985. Spin-off "Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine" was created by Sayo Yamamoto and TMS Entertainment in 2012.

Kazuhide Tomonaga ("Castle of Cagliostro," "Mystery of Mamo") is the chief director and Yuichiro Yano ("Moyashimon") will also direct. Screenwriter is Yuuya Takahashi ("Daisuke Jigen's Gravestone"). One of the original composers for "Lupin III," Yuji Ohno will also be returning to create new music for the series.

"Lupin: a immortal series with a long history. A timeless, never-changing Lupin, and on the other hand, a Lupin for this generation," Takahashi said.

"Two themes that initially appear incompatible, but that can work together thanks to the limitless charm of Lupin. With that challenge in mind, we're sending Lupin into the world on a great new adventure."

A promotional video for "Lupin the Third" series 4 was uploaded in its official website. It revealed that the new anime show is set in the Republic of San Marino as well as in Italy. Lupin, Jigen, Goemon, Fujiko and Detective Zenigata will be back for more adventures in Europe this time.

"The Lupin we watched for the first time forty years ago was way different from the kid-centric animation that had come before. It had a huge impact on adult fans. For both those who remember that series and those who don't, I want to create an exciting anime with both real and fantastic feeling. I want to make a Lupin where the hardboiled, comical, cool and nonsensical all work together," chief director Tomonaga stated.
