Another vet joins "American Horror Story: Hotel'!
Ryan Murphy announces the latest addition to the highly anticipated FX series "American Horror Story: Hotel" and she's one of the vets! Angela Bassett returns to the horror anthology series as the jazz singer who is expected to bring chaos along with Lady Gaga and the entire cast of season 5!
Co-creator Ryan Murphy updates fans worldwide of the latest news to season 5 of "American Horror Story" officially titled "Hotel" via Twitter. Another vet of the series returns for the third time and it is no other than Angela Bassett.
According to Bloody Disgusting, Bassett will take on the character of a "jazz singer who regularly performs at the bar of 'Hotel'" in season 5. She will play Lolita Jones along with the brand new characters arriving in season 5.
Angela Bassett first appeared in "American Horror Story" season 3 "Coven" as Marie Laveau, the voodoo queen who led the war against Jessica Lange's coven of witches. She returned for season 4 "Freak Show" as Desiree Dupree, the three-breasted performer who joins Elsa Mars and the rest of the gang.
"American Horror Story: Hotel" will be the first season where the lead star will not be Jessica Lange as the critically acclaimed actress bowed out of the project early on, reported THR. While fans of the horror anthology series were waiting for a while to hear news about her involvement in season 5, Murphy soon revealed that Lange will not check into the "Hotel" and will be replaced by singer/songwriter and Mama Monster, Lady Gaga herself.
"American Horror Story: Hotel" brings back other vets from previous seasons including Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates and Wes Bentley. New to the "American Horror Story" roster of cast members is season 5 "Hotel" lead and Grammy Award Winner Lady Gaga. She will portray Elisa Starr who is "a popular lounge singer" and will go on head-to-head with Angela Bassett's Lolita Jones.
Matt Bomer and Cheyenne Jackson also join the "American Horror Story: Hotel" cast as the hotel's bellboys Terry Castro and Thomas Seabras, respectively.
