Belinda Smith was reportedly unable to attend her own prom 24 years ago because she was unable to purchase a dress.

Her son, 18-year-old Danotiss Smith, made sure his mom would be able to live out her prom moment.

Danotiss decided to ask his mom to prom, even purchasing a white corsage for her to enjoy her special night, according to People.

“I was flattered,” Belinda told ABC News.

“I asked him, ‘You don’t want to ask someone else? You don’t have a special friend, someone cool that you can have fun with?’ I’m still elated. I’m just so happy that he wanted to share his day with me.”

Belinda and her siblings reportedly had to move in with her grandmother after her mother died from leukemia when she was the age of 11. Due to her tough family situation, she reportedly didn’t have the funds to purchase a dress.

“It was hard. I went home and cried because I wanted to go,” stated the 41-year-old.

Belinda was able to wear a beautiful orange prom dress because of her thoughtful son. Although some of Danotiss’ friends “said it was kind of weird,” the high school senior had his reasons for taking his mom to prom.

“He explained it to me like, ‘You’re always there, you do everything for me. I want you to go,’” stated Belinda, according to the Huffington Post.

“For him to want to share that moment with me. I’m at a loss for words.”
