Disorders of sexual functioning are common topic among forums in the internet especially when tackling sexual health. Many individuals suffer from such disorders tyet they are afraid to consult a health care professional to seek medical aid. There are many branches and categories that fall under this topic.

The first topic is about erectile dysfunction. What is erectile dysfunction and how can it affect sexual health? It was formerly referred to as impotence. It is when a man is unable to produce or maintain an erection which is needed for vaginal penetration. There are many reasons why this happen. It can be because of physical attributes like aging and the hardening of the arteries and veins. Some people who have Diabetes can have this problem too.  There are many ways to correct this but then again, the individuals affected are sometimes shy to admit they have this condition. Health care providers can prescribe medicines to maintain an erection through the coitus.

Another problem when it comes to sexual activity in men is premature ejaculation. It is termed as the ejaculation of the man even before penile-vaginal penetration. Some couples suffer from this condition that hinders them to achieve sexual satisfaction. However, this condition can be caused mostly by psychological factors. Masturbating and fear of impregnating the woman can add to this condition.

For women, some fail to achieve orgasm or they have reduced sexual desire. This can be caused also by many factors including poor sexual maneuver. Stress, alcohol intake and even fatigue can lead to this condition.

Vaginismus is a controversial topic among women. Some women suffer from this condition that makes them locked up with their partner inside them. There have been many cases reported worldwide. It is the involuntary muscle contraction of the vagina during coitus. Psychological factors play a significant role in this condition. Sometimes, penis captivus happens wherein the penis of the man is vacuumed and suctioned by the vagina making it impossible to remove.

Dyspareunia is pain during sexual intercourse. Some women suffer from this condition which hinders them to achieve sexual fulfillment. There are many factors that contribute to this condition such as infection, hormonal changes, endometriosis and even cancer.

Sex is satisfying for some people. However, individuals who suffer from these conditions must consult their health care provider to proper management and counseling.
