Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey reunite in refuting claims made by their former nanny.

According to Simonette DaCosta, the estranged couple’s previous nanny, they had refused to give her overtime pay when they had required her to be “on duty during all hours of each 24-hour day with no entitlement for breaks, for meals, and even for sleep.”

To back up her claims, DaCosta had filed a suit that detailed how she was routinely forced to work more than a hundred hours each week from October 2013 to February 2014 without any overtime pay, as reported by New York Daily News.

However, Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey reunite in conceding that they did request DaCosta to work long hours, but they insisted that they have always paid her everything that she was entitled to, according to The Jasmine Brand. If there was any discrepancy in the payment, it was because DaCosta had failed to inform her direct supervisor regarding her schedule.

DaCosta’s suit was publicized shortly after Carey was also under fire for a similar case concerning another former employee. According to the other employee, she was also routinely forced to work long hours, sometimes reaching up to 16 hours per day, without being properly compensated.

What had made DaCosta’s incident stand out was that she had also insisted that Carey purposely fired her because of her growing popularity with the twins. However, according to the couple’s hired attorneys, Carey and Cannon “lack information or knowledge sufficient” to make them able to respond to these charges.

Carey and Cannon may have set their differences aside for a quick moment to address DaCosta’s lawsuit, but they remain separated from one another. Latin Post has pointed out that it was the “America’s Got Talent” host who filed the divorce from the internationally renowned singer in December last year.
