After the heartbreaking news of "The Following" season 4 being cancelled on Fox, there may be a chance of it airing on streaming sites! But, which one?
"The Following" season 3 received not-so-good ratings and is said to be the reason why Fox decided that it was time to let go. Fans were hopeful that online sites like Hulu would be able to save "The Following" by taking the American drama series online, seeing as Hulu took in "The Mindy Project" recently.
Sadly, Hulu did not accept the offer. It may not have been the best news for fans, but according to EW, "'The Following' season 4 is being shopped to other distributors by Warner Bros." So for "The Following" fans, keep your fingers crossed because this cancellation news could only mean a new home for season 4 and not entirely the end of the road for Kevin Bacon and the entire cast.
In season 3 finale of "The Following" entitled "The Reckoning," Kevin Bacon's character, FBI Agent Ryan Hardy, falls off the waterfall with Theo, played by Michael Ealy. The show left its audience hanging with Theo's whereabouts while Ryan faked his death. The act of sacrificing his happiness to protect his wife Gwen and their unborn child unleashed the martyr inside Ryan.
Despite the fact that the show has been cancelled, Alexi Hawley, the producer of "The Following," shared some insights on their plans for season 4.
"It had to do with this pursuit of the serial killer organization while hiding Ryan's true alive status, which Hawley termed as 'vigilante' and 'lone wolf' in nature," Hayley said, in an interview with EW. She even said that Gwen's baby would be raised by Mike (Shawn Asmore) and Max (Jessica Stroup) together."
With this amazing plot planned out, it is likely that "The Following" season 4 will be shopped around until it finds its new home. Hopefully soon, cancellation news will be replaced by renewal revelations especially since "The Following" star Kevin Bacon seems to be a bit unconvinced that this will be the last for "The Following."
