The "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2" release date may be next year.

Video Gamer reported that EA has announced a 2016 release for a new "Plants vs. Zombies" game which will be published for consoles and PC. The new game will allegedly be launched between Jan. and Mar. 2016.

"After 'Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare' became a sensation last year with console players young and old, we will be returning to the 'Plants vs. Zombies' universe with a bigger and bolder new console experience in FY16 that we'll share more about at E3," EA announced.

It has been rumored that next year's game will be a sequel to last year's "Garden Warfare," "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2." New job ads for Popcap have revealed references to the shooter. One ad stated that Popcap is looking for an Interface Designer to help in the development of a new "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare" game. Another ad stated that the company is seeking a Designer or Scripter to help with an upcoming shooter.

EA will be teasing details of their game and it may include the "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2" release date during Microsoft's E3 conference next week. VG247 reported that the sequel may also be aligned with Microsoft however it is unclear whether it will inherit the six-month exclusivity period.

Eurogamer commented that "Garden Warfare" is a "supremely well-constructed, balanced and engaging multiplayer shooter." The game has two modes, one of which is Garden Ops. Its best mode is Gardens and Graveyards which is a 15-a-side combination of "Battlefield's" Conquest and Rush modes.

The website explained that the multiplayer shooter, which was based on a casual game, has taken an ugly turn due to its microtransactions-laden sequel. "Garden Warfare" stirs the same emotions as "Battlefield," "Call of Duty" and "Titanfall" such as the panic, triumph, tension and elation.
