Healthier Candy Choices for Halloween

The hallmark of Halloween is trick or treat, which is never complete without costume and candies. It is common knowledge that candies are all about sweets and sugar, so does this mean that even the most health-conscious person must put his or her minimal sugar lifestyle in favor of celebrating Halloween? After all, we have been accustomed to celebrating this fun event every year, not only looking forward to dressing up in the best costumes, but receiving as much treats as we can.

Thankfully, there are candies that are not as bad for the health as they seem. The Greatist rounded up a list of healthier candy choices for Halloween, which all contain less than 100 calories, 10 grams of sugar, and 6 grams of fat per serving.

1. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups Miniature

Everything is best in moderation, and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups is no exception, no matter how good it is. Two mini cups contain only 88 calories, 9.2 grams of sugar, and 5.2 grams of fat.

2. 3 Musketeers

These fluffy bars are light yet filling, making them an ideal snack and Halloween candy option. This classic candy has less than 50 calories for two tiny bars, and 8 grams of sugar.

3. Air Head

Loved by many, this sweet treat also comes in 50 calories and 7 grams of sugar, for one mini Air Head, that is. This flavorful candy is an exciting choice for trick or treat.

4. Almond Joy

Almond Joy, that delicious candy filled with coconut, contains around 80 calories, 8 grams of sugar, and 4.5 grams of fat. Thanks to the almonds in this treat, it has unsaturated fat and a good dose of fiber.

5. Kit Kat

Have a break, have a Kit Kat. This widely popular candy bar has gained popularity due to its distinct flavor and crunchy wafer center. Two pieces of the yummy candy, which is the typical serving, only contains 70 calories, 3.6 grams of fat, and 9.2 grams of sugar. Guilt-free Halloween pleasure indeed.
