The "Titanfall 2" release date has been delayed until next year.

Polygon reported that video game publisher Electronic Arts (EA) confirmed the sequel's release to be after their 2016 fiscal year. EA's 2016 fiscal year runs from Apr. 1, 2015 to Mar. 31, 2016. It will most probably be on their 2017 fiscal year, which will run from Apr. 1, 2016 to Mar. 31, 2017.

"You should assume that's not in fiscal '16; it's more likely in fiscal '17," Blake Jorgensen, EA's Chief Financial Officer, said.

Earlier this year, Respawn Entertainment confirmed that the sequel to the 2014 title, "Titanfall," is currently in development. Studio head Vince Zampella revealed that "Titanfall 2" is a multiplatform game, hinting at a PS4 version as well as for Xbox One and PC. Zampella has also revealed that there are still single-player elements in the upcoming game.

It was previously reported that the "Titanfall 2" release date may be within the first quarter of 2017 unless it will be unveiled at E3 2015. EA has traditionally published one shooter during the September to November season and it has already announced its massive holiday shooter for this year through "Star Wars: Battlefront."

There may be more variety in weapons and a traditional campaign mode could be featured in "Titanfall 2." Abbie Hepe, Respawn Entertainment's community manager, confirmed that they have heard the feedback from fans and know that there are a lot of players who prefer a campaign experience than multiplayer battles. It will be available on several consoles: Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Zampella revealed last month that they will not be showing any game at this year's E3. Respawn Entertainment's studio head made the announcement on Twitter, removing any hope of a "Titanfall 2" release date during the event.

"For everyone asking, we aren't showing anything at E3 this year," Zampella tweeted. "I'll get to actually see all the games!"
