A Virginia family had the most real Shark Week as of yet.

A 13-inch shark fell from the sky and into a family’s backyard in Virginia Beach, Virginia, last week, according to WAVY News.

The dead baby shark is suspected to have fallen from the grips of a large bird flying overhead. according to the news outlet KXAN.

“There’s little mark on his side where the talons probably went in, and it’s a little bloody on the side where the talons had poked him,” stated Sue Bowser, the resident of the house.

“The kids found it, and they came upstairs and they were all excited and said, ‘We found a shark in the backyard.’”

Bowser had reportedly initially doubted her five-year-old grandson was speaking the truth until she discovered the shark herself. The Virginia Aquarium wasn’t interested in taking the shark so Bowser has found a different way to preserve the shark, according to The Huffington Post.

Bowser has reportedly kept the shark in a plastic bag in her garage freezer for a week now. The shark has become the talk of the neighborhood as it has baby teeth and becomes slippery and smooth when thawing out, according to Bowser.

“I would like to preserve the shark because a lot of people have asked about it and I think it’s just so unique,” stated Bowser.

Although Bowser is having fun with the shark for now, she hopes this will remain a once in a lifetime event.

“This could be the shark house,” stated Bowser.

“But hopefully not too many more will be falling from the sky.”
