“Guardians of the Galaxy 2” cast rumors continue to make their rounds all over the Internet. Thankfully, director James Gunn has shed some light on some of them.

“Will we get into Rocket’s background in the future?” a fan asked via Twitter. “Any new Guardians members?”

“Yes and yes,” Gunn answered back.

Fortunately for those who want to know more about Rocket, voiced by Bradley Cooper, film makers will finally be sharing the raccoon’s back story. It is highly likely that the storyline will be introducing whoever created him in the first place, according to Movie Pilot.

Since Gunn has a bit of a knack of steering clear from the source material, it remains unclear particularly how Rocket’s story will be told. This was made clear when Gunn previously confirmed that Peter Quill, or Star-Lord, will finally be meeting his father – who will reportedly be unlike the man depicted in the comic books.

Rocket was created, along with other special animals, on a solitary planet. The masterminds behind how he was created were a group of robots that were abandoned at a medical complex. It is speculated that these robots wanted to wreak havoc after they lost funding for their complex.

However, considering Gunn’s style of altering stories, he might opt not to go with this story arc and focus the movie on an entirely different storyline. That said, fans are absolutely clueless about what the “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” plot could actually be.

Also, Gunn also confirmed that “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” will be bringing in new characters to join Star-Lord, Gamora, Groot, and Rocket.

Bug, a former member of the Guardians, might make a comeback into the team. He is an actual bug, more specifically an Insectivorid, that was a master in theft. He eventually joined the Guardians so that he can put his stealing skills to good use.

Moondragon, the long lost daughter of Drax the Destroyer, might also be introduced in “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” plot. Her father had initially thought that she was dead after a car accident. Drax and his wife were dead on the spot, but Heather, or Moondragon, survived. Drax was reanimated into the meanie that fans are now familiar with.
