“Outlander” season 2 will be out in 2016, but it has been getting a lot of plot and cast updates, much to the delight of its fan base.

One major plot twist that was revealed in the end of the previous season is that the show’s main characters will be giving up Scotland’s earth-toned wools to wear France’s bright silks.

As pointed out by Cross Map, following the rape incident of Jamie Fraser, played by Sam Heughan, the pregnancy of Claire Randall, played by Caitriona Balfe, and their decision to move to France, the couple will end up having to face some challenges after being “very much affected by everything that has happened.”

“I think Claire has to put aside some of her own issues at the moment to help him get past what has happened and heal,” Balfe revealed to the press during the recent 2015 San Diego Comic-Con International. “Part of that is giving him a mission. Giving him something to focus on that is not looking back on what had happened.”

Although the lead star of the “Outlander” season 2 cast will most likely wear France’s bright fashion, it would appear that times will oftentimes be dark for them.

“They are going through a very uncertain time,” Balfe added. “They are struggling with their own issues. Maybe, privately, there is a bit of a gulf between them. But, ultimately, they are there for each other. They are working to try and help each other. Getting past adversity will make you stronger. I think that is the beautiful thing about this.”

The couple’s main reason why they traveled to France was to try their luck at stopping the Battle of Culloden. This was the battle that ended the Jacobite rebellion in 1745. In order to accomplish this, “Outlander” season 2 cast leads will have to convince – and please – King Louis XV, which will be played by Lionel Lingelser.
