A new "Deadpool" photo was released by 20th Century Fox showing the Merc with a Mouth defying gravity.

"Hold onto your chimichangas," the studio's official Twitter account posted along with the new "Deadpool" image. "'Deadpool' busts into theaters in Feb. 2016."

The photo was taken from the "Deadpool" trailer which showed Ryan Reynolds, who plays the titular character, soaring through the air while shooting his enemies. The trailer was shown on "Conan" earlier this month but it was first screened at Comic-Con last month.

"Based upon Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero, 'Deadpool' tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool," the film's description read.

"Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life."

Director Tim Miller revealed how the San Diego Comic-Con paved the way for the "Deadpool" movie to be made reality. "The response from the fans was overwhelming and it ultimately triggered a green light," he said. "Within two months we were in preproduction."

Deadpool first made his, albeit brief, big screen debut in 2009's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." However, Ryan Reynolds admitted that fans of the Merc with a Mouth can expect a more authentic portrayal of the anti-hero in next year's film.

"Deadpool appearing in 'Origins' is not the Deadpool we are representing in this film, in any way shape or form," Reynolds said in an interview on SiriusXM. "We didn't quite get Deadpool right, so this is kind of an opportunity to get the most authentic version possible on the screen."

"Deadpool" also features T.J. Miller as Weasel, Morena Baccarin as Copycat, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Gina Carano as Angel Dust and Ed Skrein as Ajax. The film is slated to premiere on Feb. 12, 2016.
