Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson broke their silence on the rumored split of One Direction.
Fans were devastated when news that the band will be taking a break after the release of their fifth studio album. Following the news were rumors that One Direction will finally cease to be 1D during the hiatus.
"The guys have been together for five years, which is an incredible run for any boyband," a source said. "They fully deserve to have at least a year to work on their own projects. There is absolutely no bad blood between them and they are all 100 per cent behind the decision."
It has been a pretty intense year for the band since Zayn Malik left last March. The source added, though, that the split still would have happened with or without Zayn's decision to leave.
Each member may continue on to develop their solo careers. Harry Styles is said to be in Hollywood. Louis Tomlinson is being eyed to be a judge on "X Factor."
Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson took to Twitter to reassure their fans that they are not going anywhere. The two 1D band members claimed that they will be taking some well-deserved break, but will not be splitting up.
"Ok so lots of rumours going round [sic]," Niall Horan tweeted. "We are not splitting up, but we will be taking a well earned break at some point next year."
"Your support is truly indescribable," Louis Tomlinson tweeted. "It's just a break :) we're not going anywhere!!"
Aside from new songs during their tour, it seems like One Direction will create another album some time during their break. Niall Horan hinted at his excitement for fans to hear some of their new music.
"Don't worry though, we still have lots we want to achieve," Horan posted on Twitter. "Can't wait for you to hear all the new music we have for you and to perform some new songs as the [tour] continues! Love you all xx"
