Usually, props from the website FakeABaby.com are used solely as a joke.

However, one unidentified 16-year-old who is suspected to have had access to the website, is currently under investigation for using the products to fake a triplet pregnancy, allegedly using a pregnancy belly and purchased sonogram images to trick her family and friends, according to USA Today.

The case was reportedly brought to the attention of the police last week by the teenager's parents, according to Richard Weise, a detective with the Wyandotte, Michigan police department.

"The daughter's story wasn’t adding up and they tried to get her to the hospital to confirm whether she was pregnant or not," stated Weise.

The teen reportedly refused to see a doctor, which caused the parents to ultimately call the police. The girl picked out names for the triplets and was thrown a baby shower by friends and family, according to news outlet PIX11.

The teen's actions could reportedly be criminal because she received donations and gifts under the guise of her fake pregnancy.

"You have to keep the lie going day after day, minute after minute," stated clinical psychologist Dr. Jeff Gardere.

"All the people who are supporting that individual, they buy into this and they believe in it."

Although it couldn't be confirmed whether the teenager used the website to fake her pregnancy, family members of the teen's boyfriend reportedly stated that the sonogram images of the triplets matched ones available for purchase.

"Down to baby A, baby B, baby C, the placements of the babies -- they're the exact same," stated Tracy Matthews, an aunt of the teen's boyfriend, according to WJBK.

"You can put them side by side and the only difference you're going to see is that she used a fake doctor that doesn't exist."
