The man beard doesn't suit everyone, but for those who need a clean-shaven face, would you like to use a razor with laser?

Skarp Technologies has just designed the first-ever laser-equipped razor that seeks to resolve common troubles during shaving. These include burns, scratches, accidental cutting, and irritation. The new technology also wants to be environment friendly and use little to no water.

According to the team, at least 2 billion of the razor heads or the entire razors are thrown annually in the United States, and these wastes usually end up in landfills or garbage dumps since they cannot be sorted out due to the possible danger of being hurt from the blades. There's also no known special collection for razors.

The prototypes were made of very fine steel and aluminum so the razors are meant to be tough and long lasting without compromising the easy grip and feel. It's also designed to look like a regular razor, so it still feels familiar to users.

The team working on the laser razors included Morgan Gustavsson, who developed the intense pulse light (IPL) technology, which is now being used in many dermatology clinics or centers for the removal of hair. The device was conceptualized in 2001, but it took at least 8 years before the team discovered something important: a specific wavelength that can cut hair of any color.

The laser razor is expected to emit a wavelength that can get through the chromophore, a name for particles that are found in all people's hairs, regardless of their color. Chromophores can absorb particular colors or wavelengths of light.

The team is currently working on manufacturing the first batch of these razors, but it needs some support. So Skarp has set up a Kickstarter page where it intended to raise $160,000. But with still 19 days to go, it has already raised more than $1 million with at least 9,000 backers.
