"Kingdom Hearts 3" director Tetsuya Nomura reveals details including how Sora will be sharing the spotlight with other playable characters this time around. Does this mean they get to use the keyblade too?

Latest news have revealed that while there isn't concrete news on the release date for "Kingdom Hearts 3" apart from speculations, the game's director Tetsuya Nomura unleashes crucial information that this installment could be a lot different from the rest.

In an interview with Dengeki, KHInsider revealed the details of what's coming for "Kingdom Hearts 3" fans. Apart from the most talked about topic concerning the worlds included in "Kingdom Hearts 3," the characters for the game is another concern for fans waiting to hear more updates about the Disney-Square Enix game.

"As for the paths of various characters that fans care about, it has already been determined," explained Nomura  on the upcoming characters for "Kingdom Hearts 3." He added that "the scenario was also determined in 'Kingdom Hearts 3D'. Especially 'which characters would come back' and 'who are the 7 lights and 13 darknesses' has been decided. Don't worry, they will play a huge part.

In the previous "Kingdom Hearts" installments, the main protagonist is known as the boy named Sora, who is accompanied by his team members, the classic Disney characters, Donald Duck and Goofy, as they traversethe "Kingdom Hearts" maps to reach King Mickey or save the Disney princesses.

The recent trailer for "Kingdom Hearts 3" has already revealed Sora's character and though he might seem to be changed as pointed out by the interview, Nomura assures fans that Sora remains the same. "It uses the same model from 'Kingdom Hearts 2' so it hasn't really changed. Maybe it's his sleeker hair that makes him appear taller, I think," explained the "Kingdom Hearts 3" director.

There is no official news yet about the specifics of other playable characters and whether they will be able to use the keyblade as does Sora, or they will have special weapons like the sidekicks Donald and Goofy. As DesignNTrend has pointed out, the keyblade's function has expanded and there's no telling if the added combos will be Sora-specific or will also be made available for other playable characters.
