"Half Life 3" release date rumors have now been replaced by "Left 4 Dead 3."
Many believe that the new "Left 4 Dead" game will be likely be launched first if Valve is really working on the new title. However, given how the developers keep a high regard for secrecy, only an official announcement in the future will confirm the status of the project.
Speculations about "Left 4 Dead 3" release date and plot have been heavy online with many claiming that the third installment will be a prequel. Writer Chet Faliszek of Valve, however, debunked all the rumors.
"[He] explained that the video that was recently leaked showing how the infection began was made by Overkill Software, the developer of 'Payday: The Heist,'" Master Herald noted.
"The Valve writer said that the video is not telling the origins of the infection. He said that there is hardly a cameo from one of the "Left 4 Dead" characters and there is no fun little Easter Egg with a payoff later in 'Left 4 Dead.'"
His statement however sparked more talk about the game's development as he did not deny that Valve is working on the game.
"However, when Faliszek came out to debunk reports that 'Left 4 Dead 3' is not going to be a prequel of 'Left 4 Dead 2,' it means that he is privy to the current development of the game," the site continued.
"Knowing how Valve keeps its game development work under the radar, Faliszek would not muster enough strength to even think of answering, much more debunking latest rumors about the game if he does not know anything about 'Left 4 Dead 3.'"
Speculations about "Left 4 Dead 3" have slowly gained momentum online, with many claiming that the game was the reason behind Valve dropping the "Half Life 3" release date altogether. Now that it is solely focused on making the new title, it is expected to have a 2017 launch.
A lot of fan theories have surfaced regarding the "Half Life 3" and "Left 4 Dead" launch. One of the most popular, claimed that with the release of Valve's Source 2, it would not be long before developers will second it with two confirmed release date announcements.
"Aside from 'Half Life 3,' Valve is also reportedly working on third installment of first person shooter game 'Left 4 Dead.' Both games will make use of Source 2 engines," Yibada reported.
"The two new game titles are expected to be faster and with more detailed graphics due to the presence of Vulcan graphics AP in Source 2 engine."
