Information on the upcoming "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" reboot has started to come up as cast for the movie has been finalized.
Lionsgate's official Power Rangers Twitter had earlier revealed that the big-screen reboot will retain the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers names, based on the characters introduced in 1993, reported Movie Web.
"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" movie cast include English actress and singer Naomi Scott portraying the Pink Ranger named Kimberly Hart. Amy Jo Johnson played Kimberly during the original series.
Australian actor Dacre Montgomery will play the role of Jason Lee Scott, the Red Ranger and leader of the Power Ranger group. Originally, Jason was portrayed by EMT and firefighter Austin St. John.
Chinese actor Ludi Lin will play Zachary (Zack) Taylor, the Black Ranger, who was originally portrayed by Walter Emanuel Jones.
"Me and Earl and the Dying Girl" star RJ Cyler will portray Blue Ranger Billy Cranston. The role was played by David Yost in the original series.
Last but not the least, Becky Gomez, also known as YouTube star Becky G, will portray the Yellow Ranger, Trini Kwan, reported NBC News. Vietnamese actress Thuy Trang originally portrayed Trini. The actress sadly died in a car accident back in 2001, she was 27 years old.
According to Korea Portal, the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" reboot will include Dean Isrealite as the director, Haim Saban, the original creator of the 1993 series, Brian Casentini and Allison Shearmur as producers of the film and Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller as the scriptwriters.
This will be the third time that the Power Rangers franchise has been brought to the big screen following "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie" in 1995 and "Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie" in 1997.
The "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" reboot, which will be filmed in Vancouver, is scheduled to be released in January 2017. Production of the movie is expected to begin in January 2016.
