Fans have been anticipating the list of MCU phase 3 movies which will be released following the screening of last year's "Ant-Man.

Here is a recap of the confirmed superhero films which will be released based on a list provided by Marvel's Wikia page.

The third phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is said to be set on the aftermath "Avengers: Age of Ultron" wherein the opinion of people regarding heroes is divided. It would also cover the discord among the Avengers along with the introduction of new characters, sources stated.

Marvel's "Ant-Man" was supposed to open the third phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it has instead been slated to be the final movie in MCU phase 2. Now it seems that "Captain America: Civil War," which will be released on May 6 2016, will be opening the MCU phase 3 movie lineup.

However, "Ant-Man," which starred Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas among others, will allegedly be followed by a spin-off titled "Ant-Man and the Wasp," according to a previous report via Marvel.com. The film, which will debut the Wasp, an original Avengers character, will be making its theatrical release in May 2018.

Following "Civil War" is "Doctor Strange" which will be released on Nov. 4, 2016.

Three of the MCU phase 3 movies which will be released in 2017 include the second installment of "Guardians of the Galaxy," the new iteration of "Spider-Man" and "Thor: Ragnarok," the third film in the "Thor" franchise.

Following 2017, after the character's confirmed appearance in this year's "Civil War," the Black Panther will also be featured in a standalone film. "Black Panther" will be the first film in phase 3 which will be released in 2018, and it will be followed by "Avengers: Infinity War Part 1," according to Cinemablend.

"Captain Marvel," the second part of "Avengers: Infnity War," and "Inhumans" will also be debuting on the big screen in 2019.

On the other hand, another report by Cinemablend stated that "Iron Man 4" will not be happening anytime soon with speculations stating that the much anticipated fourth installment will not be making any appearance until 2020. Sources wrote that it is because the two "Avengers" films have not concluded production.

Furthermore, there had been speculations that the studio has no plans to make "Iron Man 4," Christian Today wrote. The same report stated that by the time "Infinity War Part 2" ends, Robert Downey Jr.'s contract with Marvel would have already expired.

In addition, the actor will be in his mid-50s and playing the role of Iron Man could be "too physically demanding" for him.
