It seems Soundgarden is officially back in the studio to continue work on their new album.

Although Soundgarden had already begun working on a new album last year, they took a break while lead singer Chris Cornell was busy touring through the fall to support his latest solo effort, "Higher Truth."

"Higher Truth" is Cornell's fourth studio solo set and contains the Top 5 rock radio single "Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart."

Now that Cornell has finished touring, the band has reportedly resumed work on their seventh full-length studio album and first since 2012's "King Animal."

Chris Cornell recently posted a photo on Twitter announcing that he is back in the studio.

"Back in the studio!" Cornell tweeted, reported Loudwire.

In an interview with The Advertiser Confidential last month, Cornell revealed that Soundgarden would begin recording their new album immediately after he concludes touring "Higher Truth."

"It's great to be able to do the Soundgarden stuff and my solo career simultaneously," he said. "That's what makes me lucky as a performer. As soon as this album cycle is over I'm working on Soundgarden songs for an album - I get to do a lot of different things and it feels like I get to have my cake and eat it too."

Cornell also talked about his longevity in the industry,

"It feels much shorter but the scary thing is means I'm much older than the next guy doing this," he said. "But you know it's rare that someone who comes from the world I come from which is indie alternative can have a career this long and be able to still make new music."

Previously, in an interview with The Pulse Of Radio, drummer Matt Cameron said that the band's approach to making music hasn't changed.

"We started out very humbly here in the Northwest and I don't think we've ever really gone too far from those sort of ideals, which were, you know, real do-it-yourself, kind of '80s underground ideals," he said, reported Blabber Mouth. "And it just feels good to lock up in a room together and write music together and play together that is uniquely our own thing."
