Fans of the "Predator" franchise have been looking forward for a new film for quite some time. The film already has a director and a finished script.

The film's screenplay writer Fred Dekker shared on a Facebook Post that the script was already submitted while Screen Rant reported that the critically and commercially successful "Iron Man 3" director Shane Black is set will be the leader behind the camera.

In an interview with collider.com, Black shared that the upcoming film will not be a complete reboot but will consider the franchise's rich history.

"As far as Fred and I are concerned anyway," Black said about not doing a complete reboot. He then added "Why start over, when you've all this rich mythology yet to mine?"

Black is reportedly not a fan of complete reboots but could "really get behind inventive sequels."

Black also said that he wants to expand the ""the idea of expanding and exploring the existing Predator mythology, rather than hitting the restart button."

The film's producer, John Davis, also said that he was happy with the script.

"Shane shot a movie and he's doing a pilot now, but I've read a lot of his script and I think it's genius," Davis said. "I think it's genius and I think it's entertaining, and what it did is recreate a famous franchise in a different, interesting way; looking at it from a different light."

"He's just an amazing writer-director. He's got a way of looking at this that makes you excited again. I love this franchise. It was the first movie I ever did. I remember in being in the jungle with Arnold [Schwarzenegger] as a 28-year-old and going, 'This is a fun business!'...Shane's amazing. He's an amazing storyteller."

Given that the film will be an "inventive sequel," experts believe that Arnold Schwarzenegger could make a return.

As per The Guardian, although the "Terminator" actor has gone on record praising Shane Black as a "very talented guy" and still sees "Predator" as one of his favorite projects he's ever done.
