There are no official announcement yet as to when "Person of Interest" Season 5 would happen, worse rumors continue to hound the show's cancellation; so the fans took it to themselves and started a signature campaign for the show's renewal petition.

Crossmap, in its report, said that despite "Person of Interest" winning the 2016 People's Choice Award for Favorite TV Crime Drama and it being the show's second award for the same category, it remains uncertain whether the show is ever coming back.

And although there are reports that "Person of Interest" Season 5 will be released this spring, it is not really final yet.

Producer J.J. Abrams even is grim about the show's fate, saying, "My guess is it is the final season [Season 5]."

He added, "The only heartbreak there is how much good story there was to come if it were to have continued. Jonah [Nolan] and Greg Plageman have done such an amazing job on that show. I know what these episodes are, that they're done wrapping [the story] up."

Abrams also said that although he is grateful and considers it a "miracle" that the show have lasted long, he still hopes "Person of Interest" will continue.

Accordingly, with all the clamor to extend "Person of Interest," fans started a signature campaign in Change.org dubbed as "Save 'Person of Interest'" and currently, it already has an over 20,000 strong petition asking for CBS, or another network by that matter, to pick up the show for another season.

Master Herald highlighted that the online petition and now that the rumors about the show's cancelation is increasing, the signature campaign is gaining steam, as well. The online petition cited that "Person of Interest" deserves a Season 6 and more because aside from its huge fan base in the U.S., it also has a huge following in big global markets like China, Turkey and several other countries.

J.J. Abrams, himself, saw a silver lining for a new lease on the life of the show after seeing the online petition. The campaign, accordingly, has been made known already to Netflix, Warner Bros., NBC, Fox, The CW and Hulu. According to recent report, Netflix is interested in picking up the show for a Season 6, although no confirmation is given yet.
