Amal and George Clooney celebrated Valentine's Day in London.

Mail Online reported that the high-profile couple left from Berlin Tegel Airport last Friday so that they would be able to spend Feb. 14 in London. Amal Alamuddin-Clooney wore a grey-striped mini-dress with black blazer and booties.

George Clooney wore red shades as well as a black leather motorbike jacket, blue jeans and beige suede Oxford shoes.

On Friday, Amal and George Clooney met with German chancellor Angela Merkel to talk about Europe's growing refugee crisis. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the couple met with Merkel in the morning of Feb. 12, 2016.

They discussed the issues with Europe's greatest refugee crisis since World War II. The German chancellery shared a photo of the meeting.

Former British foreign secretary, David Miliband, who is now the head of the International Rescue Committee (IRC), also joined the discussion.

"I absolutely agree with her," George Clooney said about Merkel's open-door policy to the refugees who are escaping from the war in Syria.

"We don't talk about it enough in the news," he added about the United States' lack of involvement.

"It was a conversation about what our involvement could be and what we can do to help with her and what she's doing. And our hope that she is able to continue the policies of inclusion because it has been the standard bearer for everyone else."

According to Miliband, via CBC News, they talked about the responsibilities of all states, not just the ones in Europe, regarding the global problem. He noted that the refugee crisis is not just an issue for Syria or Germany.

It was also revealed that George Clooney was the one who decided to ask for a meeting with Angela Merkel.

"It's very clear that Mrs Merkel has been showing very strong leadership and example not just to Europe but globally," the IRC head added. "We wanted to hear from her and support what she's doing."
