Mariah Carey, just like every year, performed her beloved holiday classic, "All I Want for Christmas is You" at the Tree Lighting Ceremony in Rockefeller Center on Wednesday. Sadly, however, it would seem that the singer needs a lot of vocal rest as she clearly struggled to hit some of her signature high notes.
The "Dreamlover" songstress had actually already upset some of her die-hard fans when she failed to show up to pre-tape her performance on Tuesday. Rumor has it that she left her crew out in the cold rain for three long hours as she handled a phone call which was reportedly about her estranged husband Nick Cannon.
She did, however, eventually give her crew a public apology via Twitter. She wrote, "Last night's situation was beyond my control. I apologize to all that showed up. You know that I would never want to disappoint you."
Fortunately for her fans, the internationally famous Grammy winner appeared for her live performance with a group of dancing children behind her, a band, and presumably an accompanying track. However, the isolated version of her performance's audio showed that Mariah Carey primarily had some problems hitting the notes that are in her whistle register.
This is actually not the first time that the singer's vocals have been called into question. She was also bashed by her fans just this October after a video clip of her "Elusive Chanteuse Show" tour in Japan leaked on the Internet.
She also got a lot of critique, stating that she might have already lost her signature voice due to ageing. Still, some of her loyal fans have stood by her side and defended her, saying that their idol only needed to rest her voice a bit in order to get back on track. Hopefully, she listens to her fans' advice so she could get on with perfectly singing her Christmas classic.
