Michael Carrick, a veteran midfielder, is in the limelight. However, it seems he might have to accept some pay cut for a new contract to be renewed.

Carrick, who left Tottenham in 2006 and has been in Manchester for quite a while, although it is true that his skill is gradually decreasing, he still shows steady performance every time of the game, and he receives the trust of the Mourinho. Last summer, the transfer was over but Mourinho's request was renewed.

But the situation has changed a little this season. He only played in 11 league games (one substitution). Carrick continues to walk unbeaten in the game, but the club is unlikely to be able to afford Carrick's high wage.

Carrick is currently receiving a weekly wage of £ 130,000. However, Manchester United wants to sign a one-year contract with a weekly wage of £ 70,000.

Mourinho said in a recent interview, "Carrick is a fantastic player. We understand each other well. Carrick will be with us for another season. " However, Carrick is still weighing his options as pay cut has arisen as main issue to renew the contract.
