Game-worn Michael Jordan shoes $33k price is actually a pair of Converses that he wore when he played at the University of North Carolina. They specifically sold for $33,387 on Thursday morning.

Grey Flannel Auctions, which sold the famous game-worn Michael Jordan shoes $33k, have stated that the shoes were actually consigned by the basketball legend's high school teammate. Although the pair has already been sold, the winning bidder requested to remain anonymous.

Just last year, Grey Flannel was able to sell an autographed pair of shoes that Jordan wore during his popular "Flu Game" in the NBA Finals back in 1997. This pair sold for $104,765. Another pair of shoes that he wore while he was still a rookie with the Chicago Bulls sold for $31,070 just last year.

Grey Flannel has opted to hold back one more pair of special Michael Jordan shoes for a future auction. This last pair was the 1984 Converse shoes that he wore for the Olympic gold medal game.

With regards to the game-worn Michael Jordan shoes $33k, he had a knack of wearing Converse shoes throughout his days at North Carolina. The reason behind this is because, during that time, the said shoe company was paying UNC coach Dean Smith almost $10,000 every year to have his players wear Converse shoes.

It was only when Jordan became pro, which was sometime after he played at the 1984 Olympics, that the shoe company made a pitch to him. Still, its annual offer of $100,000 fell $400,000 short of the deal that was being offered by Nike.

Nike's Jordan brand sells over $2.5 billion worth of sneakers on annual basis.

Other highlights that were included in the same auction that showcased the game-worn Michael Jordan shoes $33k were a Tour of Japan hat that was used by Babe Ruth during one of his games for $303,277, a 1937 game-used Joe DiMaggio Yankees hat for $151,652, a game-used Dr. J Philadelphia 76ers road uniform for $44,428, and a 1932 ball that was signed by the Yankees team for $115,242.
