As the winter months are approaching, many families will be looking for ideal locations for upcoming seasonal vacations. Here are a few attractive reasons to choose Whistler for your next family vacation.

Breathtaking Scenery

One great thing about Whistler is that it gives families the opportunity to just get away and reconnect out in nature, while taking in some of the most amazing scenery you'll ever see. Ride the Peak 2 Peak Gondola which travels between Whistler Mountain and Blackcomb Mountain. The gondola spans 4.4 km and provides a birds-eye view of the snow-capped mountains, alpine lakes, and coniferous forest below.

From high above, you might even find a place you'd like to call home. Take a few minutes to search real estate for sale in Whistler to see what the area will look like as a full-time resident.

Skiing and Snowboarding

The Whistler and Blackcomb mountains are a dream location for skiers and snowboarders alike. With over 200 combined runes, the two mountains offer some of the best skiing in North America. With so many options, most guests plan to stay a week or longer to get in as many runs as possible. Whether you're an expert or novice, Whistler has slopes to accommodate all skill levels which is helpful to families. New skiers will also find slopes dedicated to learning and ski instruction.

Outdoor Attractions

The mountains of Whistler offer outdoor fun for every season. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, other winter activities include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice skating. If you're looking for something a little more adventurous, then bring the family snowmobiling. There are trails for all skill levels.

If you prefer outdoor activities in the warmer months then there are plenty to choose from. Visitors will find a variety of trails for hiking and mountain biking. Other outdoor activities include, golfing, boating and canoeing, and mountain climbing.

Olympic History

If you and your family enjoy watching the Winter Olympic Games every four years then Whistler should certainly make your list of places to visit. Whistler hosted a number of events at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games including the Nordic events, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, and the biathlon. This is a chance for you and your family to touch a piece of Olympic history. You'll find regular tours as well as opportunities to participate in the same sporting activities as your favorite Olympic athletes.

Cultural Experience

If you like museums, then you'll want to visit the Squamish-Lil'wat Cultural Centre (SLCC), which honors the tradition and culture of the First Nations peoples who were the original inhabitants of the area. The museum offers educational programs, workshops, and activities that highlight the local Squamish and Lil'wat peoples. Visitors will also be delighted to try a selection of First Nations inspired dishes at the cafe or shop for homemade souvenirs in the gift shop.

Whether you choose the winter months or the summertime to visit Whistler, you'll find all kinds of activities for the entire family. It's a place where the whole family can enjoy time together.
