Arguably one of the most popular Mafia games in recent history, 2K Games' Mafia are making the headlines once again as the much awaited sequel, Mafia 3 is confirmed! Will it be available for both Xbox One and PS4?
Rick Pasqualone, the voice actor of Vito Scaletta, hinted on Twitter that Mafia 3 is confirmed.
"Might have some Mafia news very soon," he said to one fan. To another, who bluntly said, "make Mafia 3," Pasqualone replied: "Might have some exciting news very soon."
According to gamespot, rumors of a third Mafia game have been afloat since March 2012, when an anonymous source stated that the game had entered full production. Later that year, another report said Mafia III was in development at 2K Czech for Xbox One and PS4, and was going to be a launch title for those platforms. However, the game reportedly suffered from production issues, and those plans were eventually scrapped.
Mafia II had a very open ended conclusion. For those who are currently playing the game, we suggest skipping the next part due to possible spoilers:
"As Vito becomes the most wanted man in the city, Leo went to his house and forced him to ride in his limousine. He is mad for all the trouble Vito caused and informed him that everyone wants him dead. Leo gives Vito a chance for redemption by killing Falcone. Vito succeeds on reaching Falcone only to be confronted by his best friend Joe. Carlo orders Joe to shoot, but Joe refuses and defects to Vito's side. Eventually, they gun down Carlo. As they walk away from the observatory, Vito boarded Leo's limo, while Joe rides with two of Leo's bodyguards in another car. Suddenly, the car Joe is riding turned away at an intersection, and Leo softly tells Vito that Joe wasn't a part of the offer. Hearing this, Vito looks at himself in horror, realizing that Joe was the biggest price he paid for his path: the Mafia."
It was not clear if Joe was actually killed, which leads to Joe possibly looking for revenge against Leo and his closest friend Vito. Rumor has it that the story might take place in Louisiana.
