John Legend was not at all offended by Kanye West's stunt at the Grammys. The "All of Me" singer even thought Kanye's interruption of Beck was "funny."
"I thought it was funny. I looked at it as just a funny thing that people were going to talk about," he told Us Weekly.
He also said everyone needed to relax as Kanye West's behavior didn't hurt anybody. It was just meant to be a hilarious act. John Legend's response was made in reference to some netizens who bashed the rapper for stealing the limelight from Beck, who won the Album of the Year award.
"Beck won his award fair and square. Beck is super talented and I have several of his albums and I've listened to him for a long time. I think people were surprised that he won but that doesn't mean he's not deserving, that just means people thought other people were going to win too," he added.
Beck beat out Beyonce's self titled album, Ed Sheeran's "X," Sam Smith's debut album "In the Lonely Hour" and Pharrell William's critically acclaimed "G I R L."
Beck himself didn't take the rapper's interruption to heart. He added that there was no bad blood between the two of them.
"I was just so excited he was coming up. He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody. I still love him and think he's genius. I aspire to do what he does," he said.
Neither John Legend, nor Beck, however decided to comment on Kanye West's interview with E! News.
"Beck needs to respect artistry, and he should have given his award to Beyoncé. I'm not going to do nothing that would put my daughter at risk, but I am here to fight for creativity. That's the reason why I didn't say anything tonight. But you all knew what it meant when 'Ye walked on that stage."
It looks like some things never change, after all.
